It’s been such a fantastic week, weather-wise, and it’s supposed to continue clear through the weekend. Hooray! It feels like spring may finally be here to stay. So what’s there to do this weekend throughout the Grand Strand? Here are a few family-friendly highlights.
- Adventures with Clifford the Big Red Dog at the Children’s Museum of South Carolina – For the next seven weeks, this playful exhibit featuring everyone’s favorite big red dog is at the Children’s Museum. Explore 1,500 sq ft of exhibits to transport families to Birdwell Island, the home of Clifford! Deliver the mail, ride the ferry, fill dog bowl with giant bones, and slide down Clifford’s tail! Open Tuesday – Saturday, 9:00 AM-3:00 PM.
- The 4th Annual Taste of the Coast at Barefoot Landing – Local restaurants will have booths offering samples of their food. The event will also feature a huge “Kid Zone” with exciting games and activities including blow up rides, pony rides, carnival style games, a balloon artist, face painters, and much, much more! Live entertainment will be provided by local musicians. Entry to the event is $1.00 or one canned good. Food and ride tickets are $1.00 each. Profits will benefit the Risen Christ Lutheran School. Go to help out a great school and support their food drive! 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- The Very Hungry Caterpillar Storytime at Barnes & Noble at the Market Common – From 11:00 – 11:40 AM bring your toddler or preschooler for a story and crafts. I’m a sucker for Eric Carle and my children always loved storytime, so I had to include it. 🙂
- The Family Festival at Market Common’s Valor Park – There will be carnival games, food, and live performances! Cupcake walk, dunking booth, colored hairspray salon, and a bungee trampoline are just a few fun things to do. Food vendors include Abuelo’s, Chick-fil-A, Mellow Mushroom, Ben & Jerry’s, Melting Pot, Italian Ice, bake sale and more!
Have a great weekend, everyone!
