I’m late on this week’s edition of “What’s up this weekend?” due to a failure in technology. You know when you see that blue screen of death pop up and your stomach sinks a little bit? Good times.
So what’s up this weekend? It’s all about the Sun Fun Festival, baby! There’s a site out there that lists the schedule so well, I won’t try to replicate. I’m simply going to give you their link. There’s a parade through downtown Myrtle Beach beginning at 9:30 AM. Then there’s a huge festival featuring Disney and Nickelodeon stars, available for autographs and a few performances. There will be food, vendors, tons of activities, and other performers, include David Archuleta. Seriously folks, this is probably *thee* best festival in our area all year-long!
Another fun event happening this weekend is the Dirty Myrtle Mud Run being held in the Waterbridge community in Caroling Forest. Participants will run through a three-mile course filled with obstacles and lots of mud. The event benefits Scents for Soldiers, a Myrtle Beach non-profit that supports wounded soldiers. You can register on race day for $40 per individual, $20 for children, and $140 for teams. The first race begins at 9:00 AM.
Don’t forget that this is a holiday weekend, as well as another bike weekend. Our roads are going to be filled with tons of visitors. Everyone drive carefully. A little extra caution and patience goes a long way.
Enjoy the long weekend! And to those who have served our country, or those with loved ones currently or formerly serving, thank you. You sincerely make us so very proud and we appreciate you.
