I’ve been a fan of the Chapin Memorial library for almost eight years now. We went to a story time just after moving here and were instantly hooked. Their children’s librarians are the absolute best. I was at a program last week when Sue Ellen made an announcement to a group of parents that went something like, “We are never uninterruptable. We are here to help you find books for your children. It’s what we love to do.” And I truly believe her. She’s been a tremendous resource to my children, even helping me when I got some confusing standardized test scores.
For the past three years, we have participated in their summer reading program, designed to help motivate children and teens to continue reading while on summer vacation. There are really high-quality programs weekly, prizes, and an end-of-summer party where the children who read 15+ hours are recognized. The medal each child receives is a treasures in our house!
Jen, another of the children’s librarians was kind enough to share their full summer schedule, including programs for preschoolers, toddlers, and infants. Since she sent it to me in such a great format, I’m copying and pasting. Though for the most up-to-date information about happenings and schedules at Chapin Memorial library, here is a link to their website.
SUMMER READING PROGRAM AT CHAPIN MEMORIAL LIBRARY
