It’s been extra hot this week in the Grand Strand. This trend is likely to continue throughout the next several days. Welcome to July in South Carolina, I suppose. Just make sure, if you’re out and about, to keep the signs of heat related illness in mind and protect yourself and your family. Have a good one!
On Friday:
From 5:00 to 9:00 pm, Wild, Water, and Wheels, located on Business Highway 17 in Surfside Beach, will offer their Live after 5 discount. Water park admission is $9.95, plus tax, and will feature a Dance Party hosted by DJ “Wally B”! Normal water park admission is $26.98 for those 48 inches or taller, and $16.98 for those less than 48 inches. Children two and under are admitted for free. On Saturday:
Lowes Grow and Build Clinic will be held at 10:00 am and you can make your own binoculars. There are several Lowes locations across the Grand Strand. Click here to find the one nearest you. This is a free event.
The Myrtle Beach Reptile Expo is being held at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm. Admission is $8 per person which children under four years of age admitted for free. See reptiles of venomous and non-venomous varieties, meet television personalities from Animal Planet and celebrity handlers, enjoy face-painting, balloon makers, and tons of vendors. Looking for a new pet, anyone?
From 11:00 am – 2:00 pm, Michael’s craft store located at 504 Seaboard Street in Myrtle Beach, will hold a Knack Passport event where children ages three and up can create a fun Mexico inspired sun and tissue paper flower while supplies last. This event is free.
Barnes & Noble, located at 3346 Reed Street, Myrtle Beach in the Market Common will host Storytime with Clifford the Big Red Dog at 11:00 am. This is a free event.
From 1:00 – 3:00 pm at A.C. Moore, located at 1120 Seaboard Street in Myrtle Beach, you can make a free pony bead name keychain craft.
Is someone in your family dealing with Type 1 diabetes? In planning for the 1st Annual Walk to Cure Diabetes event, to be held in October 1st, there will be a Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Family Team Picnic and Kick-Off from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at Grand Park at the Market Common in Myrtle Beach under Picnic Shelter C. Hotdogs and chili will be provided. Please bring a covered side dish (preferably low-carb, if possible) to share and drinks for your family. During the picnic you’ll learn about the event and how you can become a “Family Team” while the children make a fantastic hand-print banner for the upcoming walk!
It’s Mustang Week in Myrtle Beach! From 12:00 to 6:00 pm, there will be a “Drive-In” at the Myrtle Beach Mall, where Mustangs of all different types and varieties will be gathered. At 3:00 pm, awards from the previous day’s car show will be presented. Good luck to all of the entrants! As I shared on Facebook, I’ve got a checklist of models I’m hoping to see – Saleen, Cobra, Shelby, and Rousch. I can’t decide which one I think is coolest. 🙂

The Myrtle Beach Reptile Expo continues at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center from 10:0 am to 4:00 pm.
