‘Tis the season for school fundraisers to begin. I already bought an Entertainment Book, and have been lovingly hit up to buy popcorn, subscribe to magazines, and attend a few events. It will be my turn to beg others in the coming weeks.
It’s easy to get overwhelmed and even a little annoyed, but let us remember something important. These fundraising events are often to supplement the cost of experiences some children may not otherwise be able to participate in. If you’re able to contribute/attend/sponsor/support, please do. Your contributions are always so greatly appreciated. *stepping off my soapbox* Now here is the real reason I’m writing this post.
On Saturday, October 8th, the Lakewood Community Yard Sale will be held from 8:00 am – 12:00 noon at Lakewood Elementary School. This event will help raise scholarship funds for the May 2012 5th grade Camp K.A.T.E. Trip. K.A.T.E. or Teaching Kids About The Environment, is a program at Camp Bob Cooper on Lake Marion designed to teach children about the great outdoors.
The community yard sale also includes a 5th grade car wash, local restaurant tasting, coffee and doughnuts, attic treasures, free NY Life Child IDs, and much more! If you have questions, please send an email to LWEcommunityyardsale@gmail.com.
Lakewood Elementary School is located at 1675 Highway 396 in Myrtle Beach, SC.
