Update, April 24, 2012: I got word earlier today that the 5 p.m. show this coming Saturday has been cancelled due to a lack of ticket sales. If you hold tickets for that event, contact the McLeod Foundation at (843) 777-2694.
Just a reminder, tickets are still available for the 9 a.m. show, which can be purchased here. We just spent a good amount of time (and money) in the Atlanta American Girl store and it only fueled our excitement for this show. Hope to see you there! It’s for a great cause!
Update, March 9, 2012: The model search is this weekend!
Girls must be a true clothing size 6 or 10 (the gal I talked to about at McLeod used the word “true” twice, so I guess they’re pretty serious about it.) The audition will be held tomorrow, Saturday, March 10, 2012 at McLeod Medical Plaza Auditorium in Florence, SC, beginning at 1 p.m. Girls are asked to bring a 5×7 photo.
Here is a PDF map of the McLeod complex. The Medical Plaza is on the bottom and the auditorium is in that building.
Good luck to all of the girls auditioning!
Update, February 2, 2012: New details are now available!
There will be three fashion shows on Saturday, April 28, 2012 – 9 a.m., 1 p.m., and 5 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person, with one adult required to attend with children. Tickets are available for online purchase by clicking here. You can also purchase doll accessories, clothing for your daughter or doll, schedule an appointment to have your doll’s hair styled, have a special daughter/doll photo taken, or leave a message for your little one in the event’s program.
As I hoped, there is a search for girls, sizes 6 and 10, to model the fashions. Unfortunately, it’s not exactly local. If your little girl is interested in auditioning, the model casting call will be on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 1 p.m. in the McLeod Medical Plaza Auditorium in Florence, SC. Girls are asked to bring a 5×7 photo to the casting.
For more information about the audition or event, click here. If you have questions, call Davis Sawyer at (843) 777-2694.
This one is going to cost me, that’s for sure. But who can argue? With two American Girl fanatics and the proceeds going to a great cause, it’s hard to say no. See you there!
First report: Between my two daughters, we have eight American Girl dolls and hundreds of dollars, maybe more, in fashion, furniture, pets, and accessories. Being totally honest, it’s probably closer to four digits, but I don’t want my husband to flip out if he reads this. Hi, Sweetie. *waves*
Just from talking to other moms I hear there are a few (okay, lots) more American Girl fans in the area. That’s why I jumped on the chance promote an event I recently heard about. There’s an American Girl Fashion Show coming to the Springmaid Beach Resort on Saturday, April 28, 2012, benefitting the McLeod’s Children’s Hospital.
There will be refreshments, door prizes, and an opportunity to learn how styles have changed through the years. While there is little information available at this time, you can visit www.mcleodfoundation.org or call (843) 777-2694 for more details about the charity . Tickets go on sale in February.
As I learn more, I’ll update this article. I located an article about an event in Delaware where they were looking for local child models for the show. Perhaps they’ll use local children for our show, as well. Stay tuned!
