Opening day for the Pelicans, “Play Ball!” Kid program, and more!

It’s finally time!  It’s opening day for the Myrtle Beach Pelicans!  I’m not the biggest baseball fan, but these guys and the effort that goes into making every event at the newly named Field fun for everyone sways me every year.

If you haven’t gotten your Kids Club card yet, there’s still time.  In fact, tomorrow, April 7, 2012, is the first game in the six free for little ones under age 12.  Check out this previous post for more details about the program and how to sign up.

New this year is the “Play Ball” Kid program.  For each home game, a child is selected to yell those infamous first words of every game, “Play ball!”  Children can enter at any Tire Town location across the Grand Strand.  I talked to the promotions director and here’s a little secret.  You can enter as many times as you’d like at as many locations as you’d like.  So if your child is dedicated to being that kid giving the command, get writing!
