Twice in the past several weeks, I’ve had the opportunity to have a frozen treat at Froyoz.  Located on the 29th Avenue side of Broadway at the Beach, near Ron Jon’s Surf Shop and Sparkles, it offers a variety of frozen yogurt flavors and 90+ topping options.

Here’s what I love.  If you’re undecided on a flavor, you can sample it.  Near the register are tiny white paper cups for that purpose.  I took advantage and here’s why – I hate yogurt.  Sad, but true.  I can’t tell you the last time I had it and that’s very much by choice.  So why am I singing the praises of this shop when I don’t like their product?  I couldn’t tell it was yogurt.  I had both the Cake Batter and Chocolate Milk varieties and I swear there was no hint of tart!  Had it not been for its less fatty consistency (which makes it healthy, right?), I would have sworn it ice cream. Delish!

The store is self-serve.  You get a dish and fill it with as much, or as many varieties of frozen yogurt or sorbet as you’d like.  Next you’ll encounter the giant set of bins and cooler holding every topping you can imagine.  Chocolate chips, Nerds, gummy worms, cherries, nuts, whipped cream, and hot fudge are only the beginning.  Just make sure to mentally note of how much you’re loading in your large cup.  The final price of your creation is determined by weight.

As I chatted with the owners, one thing was clear.  They *love* locals.  While they don’t offer a standard locals discount, they regularly run fantastic specials that they post on their Facebook page. And friends, I’m beyond pleased to tell you they created one just for you.  If you go to Froyoz and mention MyrtleBeachforFamilies.com, you will get a FREE waffle bowl.  Any time on any day.  And believe me when I tell you the smell of them welcomes you into the restaurant like a hug from your grandma.  So don’t miss out!  Just do me a favor and be sure to tell them “thank you.”   🙂
