The Myrtle Beach State Park, along with state parks across South Carolina, are doing their First Day Hike again on January 1, 2013, encouraging us all to get outside, enjoy the sights and sounds of nature, and learn a thing or two. Our family had the opportunity to go last year and enjoyed it tremendously.
The hike was about 1.5 miles and lasted nearly two hours. It was led by the famous Ranger Ann and took us through the maritime forest and on the beach. It was a leisurely pace, appropriate for all ages.
This year there are two hikes. The first is at 10 a.m. and is for adults. The second is at 1:30 p.m. and geared towards families with children. (PLEASE NOTE – the original post had those times reversed.) Park admission is required to participate, but otherwise the event is free! You won’t be disappointed!
