I don’t know where to begin. I’m thankful for so many of my jobs!
When I was a teenager, I was a dancer. The only thing I knew was my dance studio and the year before my final year there, I asked the owner, one of my teachers, if she needed a receptionist. Lo and behold, she did. That next year allowed me to spend tons of time in my favorite place, dance more, dance with wee ones, learn about business, and develop relationships with women who were amazingly good influences.
When I was in college I, on a whim, called Borough Hall in my hometown and asked the Town Administrator if I could do an internship. That was in 1995 and the lessons I learned and friendships I formed there are still with me today. After grad school, I spent five years with a boss who showed me how to be a strong and decisive female in a top position.
My current job…well…it’s near and dear to my heart. It’s taken me in a direction I never dreamed and I’m thankful every day I get to do what I do. Writing, connecting with moms, researching. It’s all good and if someone asked me if I think I’ll be with BabyCenter for the next ten years, my answer would be, “I sure hope so.” Reading birth stories never ever gets old. <3
