I’ll be the first to say the Grand Strand has a tremendous amount of activities and attractions to offer, but something showed up on my Facebook feed that has me completely excited. How would you feel about a camp for kids and families? Awesome sauce, right?
There is a group of folks who are working to bring the Ponderosa Beach Adventure Camp to the Conway area. It will feature a huge lake and all the activities that go along with that, cabins, tent sites, an ATV trail, zip line, ropes course, horseback riding, and more. The anticipated opening date is in 2015, but that partly depends on us. The camp is hoping to raise a considerable amount of money to proceed with this venture through crowdfunding on Indiegogo.com. Here’s a link to their campaign, which includes a map and tons of information.
They plan to hold themed week-long camps for kids, a special needs camp, couples retreat, mother/daughter and father/son camps, plus more. As a Girl Scout leader and enthusiastic cabin/RV camping – WOW! Wow, wow, wow! They also plan to offer day passes.
The camp is hoping to raise $100,000 through a combination of private and corporate donors. Every dollar counts and they’re offering some pretty sweet rewards for donations.
