Parents with little ones in Myrtle Beach for the 4th of July, listen up!
If you’re planning to see fireworks but have someone in your family who’s afraid, here are a few tips that saved me when my girls were small.
1) If you live here, see fireworks almost any other night. Every location is PACKED on the 4th, which can be frightening to children and anxiety-inducing to parents. We live in a location where fireworks are plentiful the whole summer through. Pick another night.
2) Stay in the car! Fireworks fly high above Broadway, Pelicans stadium, and Barefoot Landing. Staying in the car keeps everyone cool and muffles the sound. Plus then you aren’t tasked with carrying a sweaty toddler who feel asleep before the first rocket launched, Am I right?
3) If you’re planning to see fireworks from one of the piers, head a few miles north or south and sit on the beach. The distance will decrease the sound, plus you’ll avoid the crowds. Just remember that it’s likely to be very dark, so you may want to bring a flashlight to help, plus a blanket to sit on.
