We’re all about proper and frequent use of effective sunscreen, but when you spent as much time at the beach and pool as well do, burns happen. It doesn’t help that we’re naturally fair with freckles.
Yesterday, after being out in the sun at the beach for several hours, we came home to pink shoulders and arms. At first I thought it was just tan, but as the night progressed, I realized my “pink tan” was really a moderate burn. Boo.
I didn’t panic, though. I only found this product this year, but I love it. It’s Burt’s Bees Aloe & Linden After Sun Soother. Other than an affiliate link, I’m uncompensated by Burt’s Bees, so this isn’t a commercial. It’s my real opinion on what works for our family.
When applied after a day in the sun, it almost totally takes away the pain of the burn. For added relief, stick it in the refrigerator for a bit before applying. Ahhhhhhh…
What I love even more is that it promotes skin healing, rather than peeling. These aren’t claims made by Burt’s Bees but it’s been my personal experience.
I am absolutely prone to peeling even when I only slightly burn. This product often turns my pink skin to tan overnight and almost always halts the peeling process before it even starts.
I also love that it’s a light and thin lotion. Ever try rubbing a thick product onto a child who 1) doesn’t want lotion of any type on, and 2) is in pain? It never works. This lotion, however, takes almost no rubbing to absorb quickly and it smells fantastic. Even better, the scent doesn’t hang around. I tend to get headaches from strong smelling products and this Sun Soother lotion has never caused one.
Seriously, I love Burt’s Bees Aloe & Linden After Sun Soother and we couldn’t live without it! I’m stocking up before the summer’s gone. It lasts a bit longer here and I don’t want to be without my favorite new product!
